Module III : Peripheral Maintenance Module
Objective : To equip a student with necessary skills to maintain and troubleshoot peripheral devices which are commonly used with computer systems
Duration : 4.5 months Part Time (200 Hrs.)
Contents : This module covers:
  • Advance Electronics - Transistor Coupling methods, Blocking Oscillator & Multivibrator circuits, Field Effect Transistors, OPAMP, Opto, Couplers, Transistor based & IC based Regulated Power Supply, IC based Audio Amplifier circuit, Circuit tracing practice .

  • Printers - Types of Printers, Study of Dot Matrix Printer/Desk-Jet Printer mechanism and typical faults, Introduction to Laser-Jet Printer

  • Servo Stabiliser - Circuit study and troubleshooting

  • UPS – Types of UPS, Layout & Circuit study, Typical faults

  • SMPS – Linear Vs Switching Power Supply, Block Diagram of SMPS, typical Voltages & Waveforms, Study of ATX SMPS & Monitor SMPS Circuits, Typical Faults

  • Monitor – Monitor Basics, Principles of Scanning, colour mixing & reproduction, Block diagram, Layout & troubleshooting

  • Scanner-study of internal mechanism & operation, Fault finding

  • Other peripherals like Hard Disk, Drive, CDROM/CD Writer, MODEM – Study of mechanism, operation, maintenance techniques.
